The Dolomites are portrayed and revealed through the stories told by those studying and protecting them, by those farming their slopes and using their water to produce energy, by those using their wood to build homes, while safeguarding the landscape of hills, burons and huts, the array of villages, each with a particular architecture. The camera moves through the nine groups, gaining an extraordinary mosaic of testimonies. The Dolomites were an extraordinary source of inspiration for artists such as Tiziano, the first to paint the mountains, and Dino Buzzati, who came here to write. We hear from sculptors like Andrea Brustolon, the Michelangelo of wood; we listen to the mountain songs of the Sat choir, the most famous in the Dolomites. We hear about the summit conquests made by athletes. These are only a few of the protagonists of the episodes.
1. The birth of the archipelago– 2.From discovery to conquest– 3. The fascination of the sublime
4. The natural environment and its safeguard – 5.The inhabitants of the archipelago– 6. From past to future
