The baptistery is a masterpiece of Romanic art; here decorations play the leading role and are one of the finest examples in Italian sculpture. The documentary looks at a series of works, comprehensively and in detail, from the marvellous marble octagon, designed by Benedetto Antelami between 1196 and 1216: the lunettes that decorate the three portals, the Zoophorus, the series of Angels, the Zodiac and the famous Cycle of Months. Alongside these masterpieces the documentary is also an opportunity to admire the evocative pictorial decoration of the vault that dates to the 13th century, that to tell the stories of Abraham and John the Baptist, the Prophets, the Apostols, the Deesis and a geometrical night sky filled with stars.
