Michelangelo came to Rome many times, in the time between his first stay in 1496 and his death, which occurred in the capital in 1564. Here he completed some of his major endeavours, working as an architect, a sculptor and a painter. The documentary illustrates the Roman artworks by Michelangelo, from the Pietà to the frescoes on the Sistine Chapel ceiling, from the design for the Campidoglio square to Porta Pia, from the project for St John of the Florentines to The Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, also looking at the life of the artist in Rome and his relationship with the papal city.
